Fashionable Summer Wedding at Venue3Two in Grand Rapids

Photographed by Chrissy Marsman of Chrystin Melanie Photography

On a warm July day in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Kailie and Nico celebrated their wedding in a setting made for timeless romance. Choosing Venue3Two, a restored manor with 1920s architecture and a illustrious past, they filled the spaces with soft pink and neutral touches that complemented their elegant, retro vibe. Beautifully captured by Michigan wedding photographer Chrissy Marsman of Chrystin Melanie Photography, their wedding photo collection is full of inspiring ideas and joyful moments.

A Venue With a Story to Tell

Originally part of a 700-acre cattle ranch owned by the McFarlane family, the Venue3Two manor was built in 1925 during the height of Art Deco glamour. Over the decades it changed hands, but its architectural charm remained intact when the Strayer family purchased the property in 2016 and transformed it into one of Grand Rapids' most distinctive wedding venues.

The space is surrounded by rolling lawns and elegant brick pathways, with interiors filled with warm wood, archways, and the kind of craftsmanship rarely seen today. For Kailie, the moment she walked in, she felt transported. The atmosphere reminded her of The Great Gatsby; sophisticated, slightly vintage, and perfect for the romantic meets modern wedding she envisioned.

A Wedding Day Without a First Look

The celebration unfolded over an 11-hour day, beginning with getting-ready photos at the venue. Kailie and her bridesmaids enjoyed hair and makeup with Aura Beauty Bar, Annalisa Slyfestyle, and stylist Taylor Vork, while the energy built toward the traditional church ceremony that awaited.

Because the couple chose not to have a first look, the anticipation was palpable when they met each other at the end of the aisle. With a classic Christian ceremony the couple felt truly blessed by their relationship and the friends and family in their community.

After the ceremony, the wedding party traveled back to Venue3Two for portraits, which became a highlight of the day. Kailie wore her beautiful gown for the first portion, then changed into a short cocktail dress for the reception. Completing her look, with custom Golden Goose sneakers designed especially for her wedding day she made a fashion-statement that was sweet, a little sexy, and totally her. Chrissy collaborated closely with videographer Brandon Full Films, to create a stunning and artistic portrait collection.

Inspiration Behind the Look

Kailie’s vision for the wedding at Venue3Two evolved from two places: her love of fashion and the design of the venue itself. A palette of pink and neutral tones guided the floral choices and décor, while pampas grass, pulled straight from her hours of searching on Pinterest, added texture and an airy, editorial elegance to the celebration.

Reception Highlights: Style, Comfort, and a Lot of Joy

The reception brought together all the elements the couple cared about most: great food, music, relaxed style, and time with the people they love.

Under floral designs by Designing Dreams Florist and décor by Events by iCandy, the room glowed softly in neutrals and pinks. Guests enjoyed dinner followed by a lively dance floor hosted by Nightlife Entertainment DJ, while Nantucket Baking Company created a beautiful wedding cake that fit seamlessly into the day’s aesthetic.

A Pizza Party to End the Night

One of Chrissy's favorite moments of the day happened long after the formalities were complete. As the night wound down, Kailie and Nico changed into their relaxed outfits and shared a late-night snack of wood-fired pizza from Dome Slice.

This is when the couple came alive in a different way, laughing, teasing each other, and savoring the chance to just be themselves after a full and phenomenal day. For Chrissy, it’s moments like these that reveal a couple’s true dynamic, and she made sure to capture the intimacy and comfort that they feel when they're together.

A Photographer’s Touch

For this wedding, Chrissy brought a balance of editorial fashion influence and timeless artistry. She understood Kailie’s love of style and worked to elevate every element from dress details to lighting without losing the emotion or personal storytelling.

“My goal was always to give her that fashion-forward edge I knew she’d love, while still creating the classic beauty she’ll cherish forever,” Chrissy says. And the results show it, refined, emotive, and visually rich.

The Couple’s Review

Kailie and Nico later shared a glowing review of their experience:

“Chrystin was truly amazing, from the moment we booked her until the very end! She helped me find vendors when I wasn’t sure who to go with and was always available to answer any questions throughout the planning process. She even created a full timeline for the entire day, which helped ease so much of the stress.

On the day of, she went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed and made us feel so comfortable while taking photos. Getting sneak peeks just a day or two after the wedding was such a nice bonus! The photos turned out absolutely amazing, and I’m so happy we chose Chrystin. I recommend her to everyone!”
